The electric tug leader, MasterMover, partnered with BlueBotics in late 2022, having worked previously with a competing provider of natural navigation and fleet management technology.

Since then, the UK-based firm has continually expanded its range of tug and flatbed AGVs, winning several major projects along the way, primarily in the automotive and heavy machinery sectors.

Below the company’s Automation and Technology Installation Manager, Joseph Cotterill, gives his feedback on the experience of working with BlueBotics and ANT technology.

1. What challenge were you looking to address by working with BlueBotics?

As an OEM manufacturing and installing AGVs for customers, we were looking to improve our commissioning times, and we sought a more robust fleet management solution compared to our older navigation system. BlueBotics’ ANT technology was the key to overcoming these challenges.

2. What was your main concern before working with us, if you had one?

Our primary concern was how long it would take to integrate the ANT lite⁺ system into our existing vehicles. However, the integration framework, comprehensive support documentation, and the on-site engineer provided by BlueBotics, who worked alongside our engineers, made the process quick and seamless.

3. What specific aspects of our ANT navigation technology do you appreciate the most?

Mapping and routing with ANT lite⁺ has significantly sped up our commissioning process, allowing more efficient customer installations. And BlueBotics’ GNSS solution, which allows for precise outdoor navigation — something we couldn’t achieve with our previous systems — has opened new possibilities for outdoor AGV applications.

4. How well does BlueBotics technology work — when commissioning vehicles, in operation, at a fleet level etc.?

ANT technology has performed exceptionally well during vehicle commissioning and in day-to-day operations, even in some of the most demanding customer environments. It has proven to be reliable under pressure, as demonstrated by its consistent performance in our clients’ facilities.

5. How has working with BlueBotics changed your business?

BlueBotics has significantly improved our business by enabling us to increase our customer deliveries while at the same time reducing commissioning times. The partnership has allowed us to offer a more advanced AGV solution while enhancing the efficiency of our installations.

6. What specific results have you experienced from working with our team?

We’ve successfully deployed a fleet of AGVs into one of the largest automotive manufacturers, supporting critical logistics operations across multiple shifts, five days a week. This would not have been possible without BlueBotics’ ANT server technology and support.

7. How would you describe the support offered by BlueBotics?

The support from BlueBotics has been excellent. The company’s online support portal is a strong knowledge base that addresses most common issues, and for anything unusual, the team is always ready to help us work through any problems.
